About Us

Hill & Abbott and its predecessors have practised in Chelmsford since the 19th century. We have grown as the town has grown and as our clients have grown. We are proud of the fact that many of our clients are the children of clients, though we welcome new comers equally.

Above all else, we recognise that the practice of law is a people orientated enterprise and that our approach should be friendly but efficient. We recognise that our success depends upon the success of our clients and upon the expertise and approachability of our partners and staff. We were the first law firm in Essex to be awarded the ‘Investors in People’ accreditation and we pride ourselves on our commitment to the training of all members of staff.

We aim to be competitive in our fees and cost effective in our advice. Knowing that English law is complex, we try to act as an interpreter for clients and to absorb their stress if necessary.

Although steeped in tradition, we have invested in state-of-the-art information technology. In both partners and staff we combine the wisdom of experience with the dynamism of youth.

Our main areas of practice are family, commercial, conveyancing, personal injury and private client. We have been in our current premises for over 30 years and, having outgrown these, we also now operate from a satellite office which houses our Personal Injury Department.
