Bullying and Harassment
At Hill & Abbott Solicitors we understand the stress and upset being bullied or harassed in the work place can cause. As an employee you have the right to be protected from this treatment. At Hill & Abbott our employment team offer a professional yet caring environment where you can be assured your concerns will be listened to.
Although bullying itself is not against the law, harassment is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010. Bullying can lead to low morale within the workplace leading to absenteeism and potentially good staff leaving the business. Harassment can be equally serious and can lead to an employee who feels they have been harassed making a claim in the Employment Tribunal.
If you are an employee who is aware of bullying and harassment or you are the victim of bullying and harassment in the work place, our team can assist you with straight forward advice as to your rights and obligations.
Examples of bullying or harassing behaviour include:
- spreading malicious rumours,
- unfair treatment,
- picking on someone,
- regularly undermining and/or ignoring someone,
- denying someone training and/or promotion, due to their sex, age, disability or gender to name but a few.
