Maternity and Paternity Leave

Most pregnant employees are entitled to maternity leave and maternity pay, while new fathers are entitled to paternity leave and paternity pay. Similar entitlements apply for employees who adopt a child.

In addition, parents with young disabled or recently adopted children also have certain rights to unpaid leave.

Understanding your rights is essential.  Your employer should provide guidance in the Staff Handbook or Office Manual.

Further changes come into force in April 2015.
